Ask Joshua - Does your rug belong under a bed?

Hi Joshua,

My husband and I are debating if we should place an area rug under our bed in our master bedroom. He thinks that we shouldn’t do it and should put a small rug between the bed and dressser. I feel it would look better if we place a larger rug under the bed. What do you think?

That’s a great question! I always recommend placing an area rug under the bed because it provides a foundation to pull everything together and frame out the centerpiece of the room; the bed. It also helps make your bedroom look bigger and complete. Placing smaller rugs around the room is unbalanced and can make it look smaller. I’m not sure the size of your room, but I’d recommend the area rug to be large.
