Don’t Throw that Blanket Away…..
How many of you love cuddling up with a throw blanket when you sit down, watch TV, or read a book? I do! I actually do this almost every night when I am done for the day, even in warm weather! They are so comforting, that I’m always on the lookout to buy a new one and currently have nine! Jeffry and I rotate different blanket depends on our moods and they are a surefire way to lure our kitties to cuddle with us when we watch a movie together.
This is definitely the functional aspects of throws, but there are a few different ways to use throw blankets to style your personal space.
When not in use, a throw doesn’t have to be tucked away into a closet or in a drawer. The most common use is simply draping it on accent chair or some part of the sofa just to look pretty. When you’re cold or want to snuggle while watching TV or read a book, it’s handily right there for use! And don’t forget to replace it in it’s artfully draped home when done.
The other most common use is in the bedroom. On the bed, it can look equally nice with the artful “throw” or a clean and tidy fold along the end of the bed. It’s great for looks, as layering colors, patterns, and textures in the room create visual interest, but that layering can work for you too. On those cold nights, pull that throw up on yourself for an extra layer of warmth. A secondary functional aspect is for our furry friends. It can be a great place for your pet to rest and sleep with you in bed while catching hair. It’s a lot easier to deal with washing a single smaller throw blanket than a quilt or duvet cover! .
And as I mentioned, throw blankets seem to be a favorite of pets! That’s my not-so-secret trick to get our fickle cats to sit with us so we can cuddle together. It’s like a magnet! Trust me, your furry pet will love it and will sit with you!
Wait a minute, so you have nine throw blankets, or more, like I do and you don’t have 9 chairs and beds to throw them across. What to do? There are a few storage solutions for your blanket. It somewhat depends on the style of your home - let’s say if your home is Bohemian or California Casual, a great option is a blanket ladder just like the picture above. It’s organized and practical for storage, yet also makes for a great display, even if it’s only a single throw. Other than the shelf in the closet, baskets, ottomans with storage space, and cabinets such as a media console or built-ins are great places to store extra throws to keep them handy.
I want to share with you some blankets that recently caught my eye. I’d love to add them to my own collection, but I realize I don’t want to become a “blanket hoader”. I hope some of these throw blankets find a place in your own home and give you that warm and cozy feeling that make them so popular. Simply click on an image to shop.
