Ask Joshua - What kind of MCM chandelier is right for my home?
Hey Joshua,
I recently moved into my dream home, an authentic Mid-Century Modern that was built in 1952 which I am really excited about. The issue is that the previous homeowner(s?) didn’t really do proper upkeep on the house, so I’m currently restoring a return to it’s glory days. I’m a little stumped though on what type of MCM light fixture that would look right for our living room. It’s got vaulted ceilings and is the first room you see when you enter the house. I’ve looked around and there’s just a ton of options. I’m having some decision paralysis. Can you please help? My budget for this light fixture is low to medium.
Thanks!
Greg - Burbank, California
Hi Greg,
Thank you for writing in and explaining your need for the right light fixture for your MCM home. After reviewing the photos you sent - I’d recommend the styles that include glass or frosted globe shades or bulbs because your living room is an open concept with a lot of windows and architectural details. I found an example that is somewhat similar to your living room so you can get a sense of how the light fixture can fit into the space. I’ve gathered a number of options that all would work fabulously for your living room and presented a digital shopping list for you below. I hope you like what I selected and good luck on the renovation!
Happy Shopping!
Joshua
