Modern Eclectic Bedroom

The primary bedroom is often one of the last rooms to decorate since it’s not a public facing room. I wanted to give a primary bedroom some love since it should be a place to recharge and relax while giving you a space that can be uniquely yours….you don’t need to make anyone else happy in this room…so go wild if you want!

I wanted this space to have a feeling of a luxury hotel suite with some eclectic and bold choices. I selected a boldly patterned wallpaper to make an eye-catching statement and balanced it with a simple upholstered bed, complimentary art pieces, symmetrical nightstands, and lux draperies that showcase the gold and brass tones in the room. I chose an extra tall headboard for the purpose of grounding and breaking up the busy wallpaper with a large block of neutral as well as giving an old-Hollywood elegant look.

I highlighted the waffle ceiling details by painting the interior panels in a dark charcoal that really makes the white beams pop even more and give depth to the room. A chandelier of course for the space because the scale of the room and height of the ceiling screams for it.

If your bedroom has some extra space and you’re not sure what to do with it, I’d recommend adding a bench in front of the bed plus a chair and side table in a the corner for a cozy little sitting and reading nook. It’s a great way of utilizing potential dead space and makes the room look more put together. Also, let’s get real here…they are also great places to put your clothes at night, and keeps them off the floor.
